Birmingham City Council

Birmingham City Council is one of the largest local authorities in Europe, serving a population of a million citizens daily across 40 wards. The Council’s building based on 10 Woodcock Street is one of their flagship sites which houses over 3,000 staff with a very busy reception and front of house operation.

In 2018, the building management team approached Advertico as they wanted a simple yet effective solution to help minimise the long queues visitors were experiencing to check-in for appointments at reception. At the time, they were using a traditional paper book for all visitors and contractors which was very time consuming and caused bottlenecks in reception. The queues would often extend out of the door, causing frustration for those visiting, staff and front of house and security teams.

Working alongside Woodcock Street's building management team, Advertico implemented a bespoke visitor management solution with customised fields to meet the needs of the Council. Creating a simple and quick solution allowed for a seamless journey for visitors into the building with much faster check-in times.

Humza Rahman, who is the Assistant Building Manager at 10 Woodcock Street said, "The digital signing in system provided by Advertico has made our life so much easier by replacing the old traditional manual signing in book. Its quick and easy to use and real-time activity reports are available at the click of the button. The support provided by the Advertico support team is very efficient and we have always found them to be professional, friendly and a pleasure to deal with."

More recently, the Council commissioned Advertico to implement the same solution implemented at Woodock Street at the Council House - an iconic landmark which is the home of Birmingham City Council and located in Victoria Square, City Centre. The building recently underwent a £32 million redevelopment in readiness for the Commonwealth Games in August 2022.
