The Urban Building (TUB)

Slough is a well-established business hub in the Thames Valley. The Urban Building, also known as TUB is a modern, multi-let, grade A building situated on Albert Street in the centre of Slough - in close proximity to local amenities such as The Village Shopping Centre, The Observatory Shopping Centre, Slough High Street, bus station, train station and the soon to open Elizabeth Line, all within a 10-minute walk.

A flexible and vibrant home to a mixed office community, the building is centred around a modern and busy reception. The Building Manager Neil Parker identified an urgent need to replace the traditional paper signing in book, which was outdated, time consuming and not GDPR compliant. TUB required a more digital and smart solution to enhance the visitor experience.

In addition to enhancing the visitor journey, part of the key requirements for a new visitor management system was the ability to integrate with their car parking solution provided by UKPC. The building was facing major issues with the current set up, as genuine visitors parked in the car park were incorrectly being issued with tickets and fines. The integration into the UKPC system involved sending real time data of the visitor’s car registration number which is recorded on the AVMS visitor management solution. The integration validates genuine visitors and contractors who occupy parking spaces by confirming their vehicle registration to UKPC.

Furthermore, AVMS has also empowered the occupiers and reception team to provide the best experience for visitors with the contactless QR code scanning for faster a visitor check-in.

Scott Margeison, part of the Front of House team (Mitie, working on behalf of JLL) said, "We had major issues with UKPC who ticket our multi-storey car park. Advertico went that extra mile and liaised with UKPC to ensure when car registration numbers are entered into the tablet on arrival, this information is sent straight to UKPC preventing any incorrect tickets being issued."

"Visitors can also come in and scan their QR codes which allows the volume and the speed of visitors to come in easily. We automatically know when they are here and who they are here to see using the real-time dashboard."
